How It Works

• Isothiocyanates (especially sulforaphane) have been shown to promote antioxidant enzyme expression through the Nrf2-dependent pathway.

• Sulforaphane has demonstrated the ability to reduce nuclear translocation of NF-κB, a transcription factor associated with inflammatory signaling and cytokine production (including TNF, IL-1, and IL-6).

• Isothiocyanates have been found to modulate phase I biotransformation enzymes (including CYP enzymes) and induce phase II detoxifying enzymes such as glutathione S-transferase and glutamate cysteine ligase (GCL), supporting cellular protection from reactive oxygen species (ROS) and potential DNA damage.*
