What is vitamin D3?

Vitamin D3 is a Fat-soluble vitamin that helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus are important for building and keeping strong bones. Vitamin D is used to prevent and treat bone disorders ( rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis ). It is made by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. It is also used with other medications to treat Hypocalcemia caused by certain disorders such as ( hypoparathyroidism, and pseudohypoparathyroidism). Vitamin D drops are given to infants because breast milk usually has low levels of Vitamin D.

Osteomalacia

It is a condition that affects bone development in children & cause she bone pain, poor growth and soft, It is called rickets.

Osteoporosis:

Is when your bone mineral density and bone mass decreases, or when the quality or structure of the bone changes.

How does vitamin D3 work?

Vitamin D3 can enhance the absorption of calcium in the intestine. If the body doesn’t have enough vitamin D3 to absorb calcium, the body will remove calcium from the bones. This makes bones fragile and increases the risk of osteoporosis.
Vitamin D3 supplementation can protect your body from acute respiratory infections and pneumonia.
Vitamin D3 supplementation can lower blood pressure and protect from stroke and heart attack.
Vitamin D3 supplementation can protect women’s bodies from weight loss in postmenopausal women.

They can get vitamin D3 from drops, sunlight, and food.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women :
Vitamin D3 is important during pregnancy for fetal skeletal development, tooth enamel formation, and general growth and development. It is safe in dosages up to 4,000 IU per day during pregnancy and lactation.
Breast milk alone doesn’t provide infants with enough vitamin D3. So, to avoid developing a deficiency of vitamins, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that breastfed infants be supplemented with 400 IU per day.

People with Osteoporosis:
Vitamin D3 is important in keeping bones strong and preventing the bone disease osteoporosis.

People with hypertension:
Low vit D3 is associated with secondary elevation of PTH as well as increased arterial resistance leading to hypertension. So, it seems to keep the lining of blood vessels flexible and healthy.

Vitamin D3 is great for your skin. It is called sunshine vitamin as it rejuvenates your skin from the inside.

Conversely, levels below 30 nmol/L (12 ng/mL) are considered too low and may have detrimental effects on bone strength and overall health. Vitamin K occurs in two main forms: K1 (phylloquinone), derived from foods such as green leafy vegetables and K2 (menaquinone), which is a group of related compounds differentiated by their side chains.
Numerous studies have shown that vitamin K2 as MK-7 is the more bioavailable form of the nutrient 7 and more powerfully influences bone building than K1.

Vitamin D3 and K2 can help promote bone health and maintain healthy cardiometabolic function.
Vitamin K is essential for the proper utilization of calcium by osteocalcin protein activation.
Helps to bind newly absorbed calcium to the mineral matrix in bone.
Vitamin K has been found to help maintain bone mineral density by decreasing the activity of osteoclasts that breaks down the bone matrix.
Provides critical cardiovascular protection by helping to activate matrix Gla protein (MGP), an inhibitor of circulatory calcification.
Thus, vitamin K and vitamin D not only share similar qualities, but they also act synergistically within the body.
