Today, we’re announcing a significant change that reflects both our commitment to your health and our responsibility to the planet: we are transitioning from traditional plastic vials to 100% pharmaceutical-grade aluminum vials for all repackaged pills and capsules.
Why This Matters?
Over the past five years, the evidence around microplastics has grown increasingly alarming. Tiny plastic particles—many invisible to the naked eye—are now being found in the brain, heart, and digestive system. These microplastics don’t just pollute the environment; they’re making their way into the human body, potentially disrupting hormones, damaging cells, and contributing to chronic inflammation.
Here’s what most people don’t realize: storing medications in plastic vials for extended periods—months or even years—is a major contributor to this problem. Studies have shown that plastics can leach toxic substances directly into medications, especially when exposed to heat, light, or time.
As a pharmacy rooted in functional medicine, prevention, and integrity, we couldn’t ignore this any longer.
Our Transition to Aluminum: Cleaner, Safer, Smarter
We are proud to announce that all regular prescriptions at Welltopia will soon be dispensed in pharmaceutical-grade aluminum containers. These Plastic-free pharmacy packaging:
- Free of harmful plastics and BPA
- Impervious to light, air, and moisture
- More recyclable and sustainable
- Designed for long-term storage without leaching chemicals
We’re also planning to roll out aluminum caps, fully eliminating plastic from this critical part of our operations.
No Cost to You, Because It’s the Right Thing to Do
If you’re a Welltopia patient and you prefer your prescription in aluminum packaging before our full switch-over is complete—just ask. We’ll make it happen at no extra cost.
