Q. What is the source of the reduced L-glutathione in Glutathione Cell Defense?
A. The L-glutathione in Glutathione Cell Defense is produced via an enzymatic reaction of Glycine, L-Glutamic Acid, and L-Cystine.

Q. Why must Glutathione Cell Defense be taken with so much water and on an empty stomach?
A. Taking it on an empty stomach with water helps the reduced glutathione to quickly be absorbed into the intestines before stomach acids start to oxidize it.

Q. Can Glutathione Cell Defense capsules be broken and mixed with water or food?
A. Glutathione Cell Defense capsules can be broken apart and mixed with 12-16 oz. of water. Please note, the powder can stain skin and clothing. As an alternative, Recancostat is also available as a powder (400 mg dose).

Q. Doesn’t glutathione have a low bioavailability?
A. While it is true that research has shown the bioavailability of oral (stand-alone) glutathione is low, Glutathione Cell Defense is a unique, patented combination of reduced glutathione (GSH) and anthocyanins that has been clinically studied and shown to impact serum glutathione levels.† To improve absorption of intact GSH, it is recommended the product be taken with water as this helps dilute stomach acid and speed passage into the alkaline intestine. This reduces the risk of partial oxidation of GSH from prolonged contact with stomach acid. The anthocyanins in Glutathione Cell Defense help recycle oxidized glutathione (GSSG) back to reduced glutathione (GSH).†
