So, what exactly is the hCG diet?

The hCG diet is not new, at all. It was developed in the 1950s by Dr. Albert Simeons who was a world-renowned endocrinologist. During his ground-breaking research with pregnant women from India, he discovered that hCG, a naturally-occurring hormone in pregnant women, taps into stored body fat to use it for energy. And, that is how the idea of the diet that helped countless numbers of men and women throughout the years was born.

The hCG diet was put together very carefully to be of maximum benefit to those who are good candidates for it. It consists of 5 stages that take place over a period of about 40 days. It is highly advisable that you consult with your doctor and your pharmacist before starting on this diet (or any health or lifestyle changes, for that matter), in order to make sure you are properly prepared, and conduct any tests prior to starting, if needed.

The 5 stages of hCG are as follows:

Stage 1:
This phase will help prepare your body and mind for the upcoming phases. Your pharmacist can recommend a good cleanse kit, that will rid your body of toxins and gets you prepared to shed the pounds and get in better shape.

Stage 2:
This phase lasts about 2-3 days and will be your true introduction to hCG, in which you will consume high-caloric foods while using your compounded hCG drops under your tongue, or your compounded hCG injections, if your doctor or pharmacist deems that necessary.

Stage 3:
In this phase will you continue with outlined daily dosages of hCG while following a 500-calorie diet. This may sound extreme, but it truly isn’t, as this phase is only temporary, and the calories you are introducing are strictly of healthy sources. Your body will start using the stored fat for energy and will increase your metabolism to burn that fat.

Stage 4:
In this phase you maintain your new weight while adhering to your healthier lifestyle by avoiding sugars and starches, but introducing more calories and just eating cleaner and better than how you did before the diet.

Stage 5:
This is the final stage, or what you can call a lifestyle. When you start this stage your doctor or pharmacist will determine a healthy calorie range of somewhere between 1500-2500 calories/day. And, that is how you maintain looking and feeling better and healthier for the rest of your life!
